Photo and lighting guidelines

A future photo step would use a face-and-shoulders image as one visual reference for clothing colors. For now, compare the lighting examples below. You do not need to upload anything.

  • Stand near a window in soft daylight, away from direct sun.
  • Keep your face visible without sunglasses or a strong color filter.
  • Use a neutral background if possible. Color cast and deep shadow make comparisons harder.

The method

How the Outfit Recommendation Test Works

A clothing suggestion can draw on two kinds of input: what you can compare visually, such as color relationships, and what only you can tell us, such as comfort, climate, and where you wear your clothes. Neither input gives a single “correct” style.

  1. Observe color in context. A clear image could help compare contrast and clothing colors, but lighting may change their appearance.
  2. Ask about your days. A workday, a walk, and an evening event call for different layers and shoes.
  3. Build combinations. The goal is a small set of pieces that can work together and adapt to your preferences.

What Information You Need to Provide

1. Clear Portrait Photograph (Optional in Prototype)

A future photo step is planned. A face-and-shoulders photo in soft daylight, without heavy filters or sunglasses, would offer a more consistent visual starting point than a picture under a yellow lamp or against a bright window. It would not establish your identity, exact clothing size, or a guaranteed palette.

Camera white balance and exposure can alter the colors you see. Compare garments in the light where you expect to wear them, and trust your own preference. Google Photos’ editing guide explains how warmth, brightness, and shadows change a photograph.

Three portraits of the same person: yellow indoor light on the left, soft daylight in the center, and strong backlight on the right.
Compare the same portrait in warm indoor light, soft daylight, and strong backlight before using color as a reference.

2. Lifestyle and Daily Movement Questions

The five preview questions cover your usual setting, climate, approach to color, preferred fit, and everyday footwear. For a real recommendation, those answers would help distinguish a useful layer or shoe from an attractive idea that does not suit your day. The exact questionnaire is still being designed.

Try this now: list three outfits you actually wore last week. Note one piece you enjoyed in each and one change that would have made the outfit more comfortable.

What You Receive in Your Personalized Result

The planned service aims to turn your photo and answers into clothing and outfit suggestions. The final result layout is still being designed; the card below shows one possible way to organize ideas.

  • A clothing palette: a few flexible base colors and optional accents to compare with clothes you own.
  • A silhouette formula: a starting combination, such as a relaxed blazer with straight trousers, that you can change for comfort.
  • Five core pieces: an example set of garments that could combine in more than one outfit.

No photograph alone can determine exact fit. Try combinations while sitting, walking, and layering, and keep the ones that serve you.

Privacy and Photo Handling Principles

This preview does not accept or process photos. The five sample answers stay in your current browser session and are cleared when you leave or reload the page. There is no account or personalized result here.

Before photo submission becomes available, the service will need clear information about consent, processing, storage, retention, and deletion. Those details are still being designed. Please do not send us a personal photo through this preview or another channel.
